Santa's Helper?

I am on a last minute Christmas card making kick.  There are a few people on my card giving list who will look like this after Christmas dinner, especially after dessert! "Santa's Helper" is the perfect stamp for one of these people don't you think?

It looks to me like someone found Santa's cookie and milk stash and has over indulged!

After colouring up this fun stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out using a pleated circle die and added some Stickles to his hat and coat for a bit of sparkle. The sentiment is one long sentiment that I masked off and "layer" stamped to fit my card design.  Some matching glittery ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Christmas Penguins

I have been playing around with some non traditional colours for my Christmas cards lately and this week is no exception.

These cute penguins got the "no peeking, poking, shaking" memo a little late I think! It was so hard as a child to resist the temptation to pick up the presents from under tree wasn't it?! If we got caught we got in some major trouble so I would sit and look at the presents instead and try to guess.
Truthfully, I find it just as tempting as an adult!

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers and cut it out using a hand stitched rectangle die. I added some fun polka dots to one of the hats just for fun and some pom poms with just a hint of silver in them. I was going to re stamp my sentiment because it isn't 100% straight but given what the sentiment is, I left a little crooked because it fits the card theme.
I added this to an older collection of patterned paper from Bo Bunny. Some matching white and silver ribbon and sliver glitter enamel dots finish off my card.

Best Fishes

Seems like Santa has been getting some R and R and doing some ice fishing before his big day!

I have a few people on my card giving list that love fishing! They sleep and dream in fishing and yes, ice fishing included.
"Fishing Santa" paired with the "Best Fishies" sentiment is perfect combo for the person who loves fishing on your card giving list! This card is made for a gentleman so my challenge was to keep it masculine and Christmasy all at the same time.

After colouring the stamp with alcohol markers and a touch of Prisma pencil, I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I added some stickles - not too sparkly or colourful to his hat and set him aside to dry. I coloured his buttons and the reel on the fishing rod with a silver gel pen - gotta get a bit of sparkle in there for Christmas right?!
Paper from Echo Park's Celebrate Winter collection was perfect for my masculine theme. The sentiment comes as one large sentiment so I masked it and stamped it separately just for fun.
A touch of a fish net die cut and some matching sparkly gumdrops finish off my card.

Christmas Wreath

I don't know about your neighbourhood but some of my neighbours have started putting up their Christmas decorations.
This week my card was inspired by the outdoor decorations I see going up. There are a lot of people who are putting up lights, blow up a characters and wreaths on their door or on the brick above their garage door.

Inspired by the wreath on the brick look, I decided to design my card with that in mind. For me this is a CAS card design and I have used some non traditional colours for this gorgeous wreath from the High Hopes Rubber Stamps Woodsy Christmas new release. I had to sit on my hands, I find the CAS style quite challenging!

The stamp is coloured with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut leaving a thin white line. I set it aside and cut a piece of white card stock to the size I needed. I taped it down with painters tape and then placed the brick pattern stencil over top and taped down the corners. London Fog ink was perfect for my brick colour as I wanted it to be kind of subtle so the wreath is the focus.
Originally, I was going to pop the wreath up on pop dots so I added a silver glitter heart with a piece of thread in the middle. The heart kept sitting sideways so I ended up just gluing everything down. I put my cardstock into my Misti and stamped my sentiment (after I masked off the exclamation mark) and added a silver glitter heart beside it.

Stamp: Wreath - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Merry Christmas - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, silver Wink Of Stella, silver glitter paper, brick stencil - Whimsy Stamps, London Fog ink - Memento

Wasn't Me Brutus

Anyone else have two pets that blame each other for their shenanigans?
I had a kitten first and then a puppy. Both of the had their moments with wreaking havoc on my house. They would blame each other and look all innocent when something went wrong. Little did they know, as their personalities came out it was pretty easy to tell who the trouble maker was!

It is these fun memories that inspired this fun Christmas card, coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

After some creative masking (the tree stamp has a cat and mouse on it) and stamping, I coloured my stamps with Prismacolour pencils. Brutus is stamped  hand fussy cut and glued down to create my scene.  I cut it out using a notched rectangles die. I set it aside and chose some fun pet themed Christmas patterned paper. Some ribbon, a gold bell and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Merry Christmoose!

I love making Christmas cards that are personalized for the person receiving them.
I have a few guys on my card giving list who love the outdoors - hiking, wildlife and even camping in the winter. So masculine Christmas it is ....gulp!
I decided "Winter Moose" would be perfect for an outdoorsy themed, masculine card for one of the outdoorsy guys in my life.

After stamping my moose on some coloured pencil friendly paper, I coloured him using Prismacolor pencils. I am new to colouring with pencils so this was a challenge for me. I hand fussy cut him and ran a black marker around the edge to "finish" him off. Next, I created my scene with cardstock, patterned paper and dies. Love my Misti for perfect stamping position for my sentiment!
Some simple gumdrops finish off this CAS masculine Christmas card.

Ho Ho Ho

I have one last Christmas in July post to share with you.

Today's card features "Santa Bob" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. No Christmas card making endeavour is complete in my world without making at least one Santa card!
Santa Bob fits that bill perfectly doesn't he? Going down the chimney with his bag of toys and cool shades - we will see if he fits!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and pencil I added some liquid applique to his coat and had trim. I wasn't going to fussy cut him but as you can see not all things go as planned!
I created my background with distress ink, a white gel pen and some glitter accents. At first I wasn't happy with my falling "snow" so I was going to scrap it but then I remembered no two snowflakes are alike so they don't have to be perfect.
Next I took my label die, cut out the centre and added some die cut houses. I kept the frame and added some snow drifts to the bottom and added it to my cardstock base with foam pop dots. I finished it off by simply stamping and adding my sentiment which is glittered up to match.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Santa Bob - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment - Ho Ho Ho - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Home For Christmas

One of my parents' favourite things about Christmas is to have their "kids" come home. My Mom is famous for having at least one of each of our favourite foods or snacks available at some point throughout the day. Now, add to that the grand children and let me tell you the variety of food and treats is crazy! but we all love being together.
My card this week is based on this very thing - going/coming home for Christmas.

The "pieces" for this card took some time to create. The stamps were coloured and fussy cut and then set aside. I paper pieced the hat and scarf on the "Momma" bird just for fun and added glitter drops to her hat.
Next, I cut out an oval and die cut quite a few branch pieces. I cut the branch pieces apart and laid them out on the oval die to from my nest. I trimmed the oval down to about a quarter of the size to form my base. Next I cut my tree branches and added a light touch of snow to them as well as a few of the branches on the nest.
The sentiment was masked off with post it notes and stamped in stages. It took about 4 tries and a whole lot of patience to get it stamped the way I wanted it. Love my Misti is all I can say!
Some ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Candy Cane Wishes

This sweet mouse seems to have her hands full with this extra large candy cane doesn't she?!
My second post for the Christmas in July theme features "Merry Mouse". I think she is just adorable with her elf outfit and of course her candy cane.

This sweet mouse is coloured with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut. I set her aside and cut my paper layers, including the dotted oval background behind her. I added silver wink of stella to the bells on her outfit and Stickles to the pom pom on her hat.
Next, I masked off the part of the sentiment I wanted with post it notes and held my breath. It took a couple tries but I got the portion I wanted - I think it is perfect for this stamp.
A simple bow and some glittered gumdrops finish off my card.

Santa's Helper

It's Christmas in July on the High Hopes and One Crazy Stamper blogs!

My first Christmas card for this month features "Off To The Dump". Different right?! but when I saw this stamp I knew I wanted to use it for a Christmas card.
Near the town I live in, we have a gentleman who attends as many of the local, small town Santa Claus parades as he can. He goes to the parade in his dump truck because at each parade he fills the back with food and gift donations. People know he will be there and are extremely generous with their donations.
This kind, big hearted man and his dump truck  have inspired my card for this week -  he truly is Santa's Helper.

I stamped my dump truck and then stamped it again on a post it note and cut it out to mask the truck off. Next I grabbed my presents stamp and did the same thing so I could fill the back of the truck, coloured it with alcohol markers and then hand fussy cut it.
Gold and silver Wink of Stella was added to the bows and some of the wrapping paper - I like a little bit of bling on my Christmas cards.  I added it to some snow banks I cut using an edge die and some fun Christmasy paper from Echo Park. A few die cut trees, matching ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Holiday Cheer All Year

It is only 4 days until Christmas but I had to make one last Christmas card to share with you.
I made this card with all of you in mind, our One Crazy Stamper fans, my fellow design team members and blog followers.

My wish for all of you is health, happiness and holiday cheer to last all year. I'm looking forward to another year of fun and sharing cards and projects. Merry Christmas to you!

I coloured my card with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut it. I love some bling and glitter on my Christmas cards so I added some glittery snow and Nuvo glitter drops to the "yard", house and sky. I cut out a fun frame totally by accident to be honest <wink> but that is a story for another day and added it behind my image. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a fish tail banner die. Some matching ribbon and my favourite - gumdrops - finish off my card.

Snowflake Gift

I love snowmen! so when I saw the Snowman Flakes 4 U stamp in the new Winter Joy release I knew I wanted to make a card with him. I also fell in love with the colours of this paper and the result is a fun, winter themed card for a friend.

I coloured my stamp using alcohol markers and cut it out with a new to me die with scallops and stitches. It is hard to see in the photo but the "gift" snowflakes are coloured with a Spectrum Sparkle pen - fun right?! After colouring the trees, I cut a piece of sponge and used it add some white acrylic paint to add some "snow". Ribbon, some Nuvo drops and a fun silver snowflake charm are the finishing touches. Now...I wonder which of my friends would like to find this in their mailbox........

Winter Kitty Christmas

Did you see the new "Winter Fun" release from High Hopes yesterday?!? If you haven't - be sure to check it out!
One of the oh so cute new release stamps was this cutie "Winter Kitty". If you are a cat lover or have a cat lover in your life, then this a stamp you will want in your collection!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out using a circle die. I added Liquid Applique to the hat and scarf for some texture. I found out the hard way, you have to completely dry/puff up the applique with your heat gun - if there are any spots that are still wet and you run it through a die cutting machine ......well let's just say it's a mess - lesson learned - die cut then add liquid applique. After I was set (the second time), I added my stamp to paper from Simple Stories and added some ribbon and a bow. Some photo corners and gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Winter Kitty - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Meowy Christmas Saying - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Believe!

As I child I always wondered what it would be like to be able to fly like one of Santa's reindeer. We went to Santa's Village in Bracebridge and I was fascinated by this place - it was all things Christmas year round.

It even had live reindeer and I always wondered if one of them worked for Santa! Our friend Rodney Reindeer is dreaming of the day he is big enough to help pull Santa's sleigh......but first he has to grow a little.....and then he has to Believe in the Magic......<wink>

I started my A2 size card by stamping Rodney Reindeer, colouring him with alchohol markers and fussy cutting him with cuticle scissors. I added him to patterned paper from an older Bo Bunny collection. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a fish tail banner die and I stamped a santa and sleigh from another stamp set above Rodney's head. It's hard to see on the photo but the rings on his harness are coloured with a Sterling Silver Sparkle Pen. A matching holly die, ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.
